Group Fitness in Woodland Hills: What to Expect at a Society 3 Class

A walkthrough of one TriMethod class at Society 3 on Ventura Blvd: the three zones, the 24 person cap, what to bring, where to park, and how booking works.

Society 3

A group fitness class in Woodland Hills at Society 3 runs 60 minutes, is coached start to finish, and is capped at 24 people. You are placed in a group of 8 and rotate through three zones: Cardio, Strength, and Functional. Book your spot online, arrive 15 minutes early, and you walk out done in an hour.

That is the short version. Below is how the hour is built, what to bring, where to park on Ventura Blvd, what a class costs, and how to get your first one on the calendar. The studio sits at 21144 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364.

What happens in a group fitness class in Woodland Hills?

At Society 3 you get one format, TriMethod: 60 minutes, three zones, three rounds, one coach in the room from the first minute to the last. There is no self-guided wandering and no screen telling you what to do.

Your coach calls the work, watches the floor, and fixes what needs fixing. You are assigned a group and a station number when you book, so your spot is waiting before you walk in. Everyone trains the whole hour, just not on the same thing at the same moment.

How one round is built

Each round is 5 minutes on your cardio machine, a 1:30 transition, 5 minutes at your Strength station, another 1:30 transition, 5 minutes at your Functional station, then a 2:00 break. Do that three times and you have worked 9 stations in a single class. The clock is the same every session, which is why a Society 3 hour ends on the hour.

Five minutes on the machine you picked, at your own pace.

Three rounds inside the hour. Play it, or run it at 10x.

The three zones

  • Cardio. Treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, and stair climbers under red light. You pick the machine type when you book, and it runs at your pace rather than the room's.
  • Strength. Numbered stations with adjustable benches, dumbbell towers, and resistance bands, staged before you arrive. Upper body, lower body, then core and accessory work.
  • Functional. Mats, kettlebells, foot slides, and steppers. Mobility, stability, and joint-friendly work that keeps the other two zones sustainable.

Cardio

5 min per round

Cardio zone, five minutes per round. You pick your machine when you arrive: bike, elliptical, treadmill, or stair climber. It is yours for the whole class, and it only ever goes your pace.

Zone 1 of 3
Cardio, Strength, Functional. Five minutes in each, every round.

How the rotation works

Twenty-four people split into three groups of 8. Inside your group you hold a station number from 1 to 8, and that number is yours for the whole class. It is your bench in the Strength Zone, your mat in the Functional Zone, and your machine in the Cardio Zone, so you never hunt for a spot between rounds.

The neon over each zone shifts between rounds to point you where you go next. Nobody has to shout at you to move, and nobody ends up stranded in the middle of the floor.

What changes between classes

The format holds, but the work rotates on a fixed weekly pattern so you always know what you booked. Monday and Thursday are Push Day. Tuesday and Friday are Pull Day. Wednesday and Saturday are Animal Flow. Programming runs on six-week cycles built by our coaches, so a class in week five is not the class you took in week one.

The pattern is deliberate. The American Heart Association reports that only about one in five adults gets enough exercise to stay healthy, and the reason is rarely willpower. It is friction. A schedule you can predict and a station that is already yours remove most of it.

How many people are in a class?

Twenty-four, split into three groups of 8, and the cap is physical rather than preferential. The floor is built as three groups of 8 numbered stations, and every station number exists on exactly three cardio machines, one per group.

A twenty-fifth person has no valid number and no free machine, so a full class is genuinely full. Practically, that is the difference between a coach who knows your name and a coach who knows your headcount. It is also why guests count toward the 24: a member bringing a friend is taking a real spot on the floor.

Sunday is the exception. The Recovery Suite is a flat session with no zones, no stations, and 8 people, running in 45 minute blocks. It is built for members and included with the Complete and Black Cat memberships, and a single Recovery Suite drop-in is available if you want to try it first.

What should I bring to a class?

Bring a water bottle, clean athletic shoes you can both run and lift in, and clothes you can move in. The room warms up fast once class starts, so light layers beat heavy ones, and there is no dress code.

The studio covers the rest:

  • A branded sweat towel is yours on your first visit.
  • Cleaning towels and sanitizer sit on the floor, and you wipe your station down during transitions.
  • A water refill station that doubles as a drinking fountain keeps your bottle full.
  • Two bathrooms stocked with feminine hygiene products, spray deodorant, dry shampoo, hair ties, and thin headbands.
  • Three changing rooms with mirrors, so you can arrive in work clothes and leave in them.

Two things to handle before you arrive. Sign the liability waiver online, which takes about 2 minutes on your phone and turns day one into a thirty second hello instead of paperwork. Then plan to walk in 15 minutes early so your coach can meet you, show you the room, and set you up on your machine without rushing.

If you arrive after class has started, you can only be brought in during a transition between rounds, and that is at the coach's discretion. The full walkthrough lives on our guide to your first class.

Where do I park on Ventura Blvd?

Park in the lot behind the building. It is free for members and there is no time limit while you train. If the lot is full, the spots on Ventura Blvd are metered, and the side streets off Ventura are free but carry posted limits, so read the sign before you walk in.

Ventura is a working boulevard, so give yourself a few extra minutes for the 6:00 AM classes and the evening block, when the street is busiest. If you are circling and running close to start time, call the studio at (747) 204-4499 or text (818) 936-6229 and a real person answers.

Do I need to be fit already?

No, and the format is built for exactly that. Every level trains in the same room on purpose: your cardio machine runs at your pace, and every strength movement has a version that fits where you are today. Your coach scales the work to you, whether it is class number one or class number five hundred.

For context, the CDC's activity guidelines for adults call for 150 minutes of moderate activity a week plus 2 days of muscle strengthening. One TriMethod class covers a meaningful piece of both in a single hour, which is the whole point of putting cardio and strength in the same room.

If you need to stop mid-round, you stop. There is no penalty lap and no spotlight on you. Take water, step off the pace, and your coach hands you a modification rather than a lecture.

One thing helps more than anything else: say the quiet part to your coach before class starts. An old shoulder, a long stretch away from training, a knee that complains on stairs. That is not a confession, it is how a coach knows to keep an extra eye on you.

Coaches offer modifications, not medical advice. All Society 3 coaches and staff are certified in CPR and AED use, and there is a first aid kit and an AED on the premises. Participants must be 16 or older, and anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to sign the agreement documents first.

Classes are led by our coaches, Arvin and Kelcey. Arvin runs most of the morning and Saturday classes, Kelcey most of the evenings, and you get to know both of them quickly in a room of 24.

When do classes run?

TriMethod runs Monday through Saturday, and Sunday is reserved for the Recovery Suite. Class times are built around Woodland Hills work schedules: early morning, a midday slot, and an evening block.

  • Monday to Thursday: 6:00, 7:15, and 8:30 AM, 12:00 PM, 5:45 and 7:15 PM.
  • Friday: 6:00, 7:15, and 8:30 AM, 12:00 PM, 4:00 and 5:45 PM. Friday evening runs a little earlier than the rest of the week.
  • Saturday: 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 AM, plus 12:30 PM.
  • Sunday: Recovery Suite sessions at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 AM, plus 12:30 PM. No TriMethod on Sundays.

Live availability for every one of those times sits on the Society 3 booking schedule.

How much does a class cost?

You do not need a membership to train here. A TriMethod drop-in is $35, a 5 class pack is $160, which works out to $32 a class, and a 10 class pack is $310, or $31 a class.

Packs are good for 90 days, nothing rebills, and credits apply automatically when you book. A single Sunday Recovery Suite drop-in is $75. Everything is priced on the class passes and packs page.

If it becomes a habit, memberships are month to month with no long-term contract. Founding rates are still open as this is written and they close soon, so the founding price is the one to lock in:

  • The Core: 8 TriMethod classes a month, $169 founding, $189 standard.
  • The Charged: 12 TriMethod classes a month, $209 founding, $239 standard.
  • The Committed: unlimited TriMethod, Monday through Saturday, $229 founding, $269 standard.
  • The Complete: unlimited TriMethod plus 2 Recovery Suite sessions a month, $319 founding, $369 standard.
  • Black Cat: the top tier, and the one the mascot is named for, with unlimited TriMethod plus 4 Recovery Suite sessions a month, $389 founding, $449 standard.

On The Core and The Charged, classes you do not use carry into the next month only and expire at the end of it. Recovery Suite sessions do not roll over at all. Committed, Complete, and Black Cat members also get three guest passes a month for first-time visitors. Compare all five tiers on the Society 3 membership page.

How do I book a class?

Booking takes about a minute: pick a class on the schedule, choose your cardio machine type, and your spot and machine are held under your name. Unlimited tiers book 30 days out, everyone else books 14 days out, and Recovery Suite drop-ins open 72 hours ahead.

If the class you want is full, join the waitlist. It never charges you automatically. When a spot opens, you get a text and 30 minutes to claim it through the link, and an unclaimed offer passes to the next person with no penalty attached.

Cancellation is worth knowing before you book anything. Committed, Complete, and Black Cat members can cancel up to 12 hours before class. Core, Charged, class pack, and drop-in bookings cancel at least 24 hours ahead.

Late cancels and no-shows cost members a $22 fee, and on The Core and The Charged the reserved class also comes out of that month's allocation. Pack holders and drop-in buyers forfeit the reserved session instead, with no fee on top. Committed, Complete, and Black Cat members get one automatic grace pass each calendar month that waives the first one, applied by itself with no phone call needed.

The rest of the house rules, including the no-phones-during-class policy, live on the studio policies page.
